1. No, because by selectively breeding the plants you are causing the population to be very similar and could possibly not allow the plants to benefit at all times from environmental factors that could cause them health risks.

2. No, because by not selective breeding dogs we allowed for their to be a larger population of different dogs which allows some to be good at a specific thing and others not to be. This allows variety and genetic diversity allowing us to choose which dog we want/need for different things like work or just to have.
