Wishing to become pregnant, she had stopped taking the pill one year

earlier but her periods did not return. Her partner’s sperm count was

normal.

The following investigations were carried out (reference ranges are

given in brackets):

 LH 21 IU/L (2–15)

 FSH 42 IU/L (1–15)

 Prolactin 350 mU/L (50–700)
