How does the energy that it needs to survive originally enter the food web? The marine food web shows phytoplankton at the bottom of the food web. Arrows extending from the phytoplankton image upward and across point to various organisms such as zooplankton, krill, fish, birds, seals penguins and whales in order of consumption.
