Genes A andB are both involved in the production of purple pigment in eggplants. Lack of pigment results in white eggplant. Gene A converts a non-pigmented protein (X) to another non-pigmented protein (Y).
Gene B converts protein Y into a purple pigmented protein (protein Z).
From a cross of two pure breeding lines of white eggplants, all of the F1 have purple color.
