The conversion of pyruvate to lactate consists of two reactions (sometimes each is called a half-reaction) that are coupled: 1) NADH à NAD+ and 2) Pyruvate à Lactate. Given the fact that electrons carry energy and coupled reactions always involve an energy-requiring reaction and a energy-supplying one, the pyruvate à Lactate half-reaction must be endergonic. True or False?

Based on your answer to above question, the NADH à NAD+ half-reaction must be exergonic.
