He most likely just said that because he is happy the interest is mutual. Just be yourself and get to know him before you start a relationship. The most important things are trust and communication. Make sure you understand and trust him before you let him into your life.

Trying going over to him and try asking him how his day was and see if you guys can do something together to get to know each other out of school or whatever
