It's allow water flow and water is essential for life . It is useful for plants for growth , photosynthesis and germination. Water is essential for animals because, it's aids digestion and metabolic processes.

Earth's atmosphere have right composition of chemicals that support life and these chemicals include oxygen, nitrogen, carbon, water e.t.c.

For example oxygen is important for respiration which releases energy to perform cellular activities.
