We will be working with Escherichia coli, a bacteria that requires oxygen for growth. Very briefly describe the conditions needed to grow 5ml of liquid culture of E. Coli in the laboratory?

The conditions required to grow of liquid culture of E. coli includes various aspects such as temperature, equipment, media, oxygen, and glassware. These aspects are describe as per requirement below:

1. Suitable temperature for E. coli is higher than room temperature should be maintain at 37 degree Celsius as it is inhibits the bacteria growth.

2. Autoclave helps in regulating conditions during growing period of bacteria whereas Laminar air flow provides sterilized environment during culturing or sub culturing E. Coli colony.

3. LB medium is suitable for liquid medium of E.coli which requires peptides, vitamins, trace elements and minerals and digested food as nutrients.

4. It is anaerobic bacteria so oxygen is not essential for culture however can grow in availability of oxygen.

5. Properly sterilized glassware obtained by placing it in Bunsen Burner's flame which is essential to avoid contamination.
