The energy necessary to contract our muscles and therefore to start jogging comes from adenosine triphosphate (ATP). When ATP is broken down into ADP (adenosine diphosphate) and Pi (phosphate) energy is released, and this is the energy used to contract the muscles.

Jogging is a form of running that involves jogging or running at a slow or leisurely pace (moderate speed) outdoors. Muscle fibers are the cells that make up muscles and have the ability to contract and relax in response to messages from our central nervous system. Basically, to function the muscles need ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) and they obtain it through 3 energy systems: The phosphagen system allows to obtain energy quickly for explosive movements, where there is no time to convert other fuels into ATP; the glycolytic system (or anaerobic lactic), the muscles (and liver) in addition to ATP, store glycogen, that glycogen is converted to glucose and then ATP, allowing intense activity (although less than in the previous case) for a few minutes And lastly, the oxidative system (or aerobic) is probably the most widely used by long-distance runners, it is the slowest way to obtain ATP, but it can generate energy for hours. This system needs oxygen to generate ATP.  All three may be contributing energy simultaneously, but there will always be one that prevails over the others at any given time.  Glycogen is vital for joggers, so they must take care and analyze their diet to obtain the correct source of energy that their muscles require.
