1. Define parasitism and mutualism. Then, describe a scenario in which a
single plant species (same plant for both relationships) parasitizes an
animal species during one part of it's reproductive cycle, and then uses
a mutualistic relationship with a different animal species during
another portion of the same reproductive cycle. How does the plant
parasitize the animal? How does the plant then benefit the other
animal? You will need to utilize your knowledge of plant life cycles to
fully answer this question.
- Additionally: provide as complete a list as you can of the taxonomic
categories to which the two animals you selected belong (Domain,
kingdom, phylum, class, order, etc.)
2. Compare the the respiratory surfaces of a marine worm, a planarian
flatworm, a ray-finned fish, an insect, a mammal, and a bird. Which is
most efficient and why? Which challenges are their respiratory
systems adapted for?
