Fossil Fuels

Advantages: Large amounts of fairly cheap electricity can be generated in one place. Transporting it to power stations and plants is easy. Easy to find.

Disadvantages: Major pollution, the plants that use fossil fuels let out lots of carbon dioxide, which contributes to the greenhouse effect. They also produce sulfur dioxide, a gas that contributes to acid rain. Mining coal can be very dangerous. Coal power plants require lots of coal to run.

Nuclear Fuels

Advantages: No greenhouse gases. The energy obtained in these plants is 10 million times more powerful than the same amount made in a coal plant. This type of energy is also reliable and rarely shuts down due to outside causes.

Disadvantages: Very harmful waste. Supplies will run out in years to come. It takes days to shut down a plant. Meltdowns expose very large amounts of radioactivity in an area.
