Photosynthesis and cellular respiration are often described in two ways:

The processes photosynthesis and cellular respiration are processes that happen within  plants.  Photosynthesis uses carbon dioxide and energy to produce sugar and oxygen to consumers.  Respiration, on the other hand, uses oxygen and sugar to produce and carbon dioxide. Hence the answer is 1. they are opposite of each other.
