Observe someone making a meal in your home. You can make something yourself! As the food is prepared, collect data for two examples of changes in matter. Use the Changes in Matter guide to determine if your examples are physical or chemical changes. Your answer should include a description of each food preparation, as well as evidence for which type of change it is.    Ice cream isn't exactly a meal but when you go through the process of making it, it starts out as a liquid then becomes solid. Most people who've made ice cream as a kid have done the experiment with 2 Ziploc bags, kosher salt, heavy cream, vanilla, sugar, and milk. And of course the ice. You begin to get a solidified figure once you mix everything in the first bag then surround that bag with another bag filled with the ice and salt and shake.  So this would count as  physical change.

 If you cook a steak it'd go through a chemical change. The proteins in the meat begin to break down due to the heat in a skillet, grill, pot, etc. This meat also goes through a physical change. The color changes and so does the texture. (Not that I've ever had raw meat. Bleh!)
