Panthers and jaguars are both the same species of big cat. Panthers have a black gene, while Jaguars are tan with brown and gold spots. Both of these animals hunt at night in the thick, dark Amazon rainforest. Panthers, since they are black, are more difficult for prey to escape from, since they are harder to see. There is not enough food for every big cat in the jungle . What variation existed ?
