A. C. 5.2 This looks at acquired immunity. Once the body has been infected by a microbe the body produces antibodies that help the immune response, these are produced by the B- lymphocytes. However at the same time some of the B-Lymphocytes are stored as B-memory cells so if we are infected again the body has a source B- cells that can quickly produce antibodies. The first infection produces what we call the initial or primary response and the B-memory cells are responsible for the secondary response and we don't suffer as badly the second time we are infected, the term naturally acquired immunity as we have acquired the immunity by being infected.
