The graph above compares the monthly streamflow from two wetlands in northern Minnesota; A, a perched bog whose inflow component is primarily precipitation, and B, a fen whose inflow component is primarily ground water. Imagine that just upstream from the fen and bog areas, majors development has taken place. A subdivision of 140 homes as well as a small shopping center is being developed. Local residents are irate saying that the waters of the fen and bog will disappear and the habitats destroyed by this development. Are they correct? Explain your answer.
