One of the four biomolecules is nucleic acids. Nucleic acids consists of the Ribosenucleic acid (RNA) and Deoxyribose nucleic acid (DNA). Both are made up of nucleotide subunits. Deoxyribosenucleic acid (DNA) is the nucleic acid that serves as the genetic material in a cell.

However, DNA consists of long nucleotide sequences that makes it unable to fit into the nucleus of a cell. Hence, the cell devises a means to allow it fit. This is done by folding the long strands of DNA along a set of proteins called HISTONES. They are coiled around HISTONES to form the nucleosome structure.

The nucleosome structure is further coiled and modified to form the CHROMATIN. The Chromatin then undergoes condensation to become the CHROMOSOME.
