The peripheral nervous system is the part of the nervous system that involves innervation in all the body parts apart from the major brain region called the cerebrum and the spinal cord. It is divided into the somatic nervous system and the autonomic nervous system.

This is the part of the peripheral nervous system that is not under the control of the person and is controlled solely by the brain, majorly the hind brain that includes the medulla oblangata, the pons and the cerebellum.
