How are different forms of
a gene distributed to offspring?

Different forms of a gene are what we call alleles. An allele can either be dominant (denoted as a capital letter, let's say S), or recessive (let's say s). If a gene contains two alleles, we can use the Punnett Square to distribute the alleles to the offspring.
