Plate tectonics have the potential to affect organic evolution due to the fact that the movement of these plates may well cause land masses to shift and cause a change in climate as a result. This means that the adaptations animals may have previously had due to a hot/cold climate may no longer be needed and they will therefore need to evolve further in order to survive successfully.
