A) Draw a cell containing six chromosomes (3 homologous pairs) in G1 phase (before DNA replication in S phase!). Make it clear which chromosomes are members of a pair (remember: homologous chromosomes need to be the same size and contain the same genes). b) Draw the same cell after DNA replication in S phase. c) Draw the same cell in Prophase I of meiosis after crossover (homologous recombination) has occurred. Make sure you clearly indicate where DNA has been exchanged. d) Now draw the cell in metaphase 1 of meiosis. e) Draw the two cells that result from meiosis I, after cytokinesis is complete. Are these cells diploid or haploid? Explain your answer. f) Draw the same two cells in metaphase II of meiosis. g) Now draw the four gametes that result after completion of meiosis II. It should still be clear which chromosomes/chromatids from parts a and b ended up in each of these gametes.
