In biology, heterozygous means that the two alleles of a gene will be different. Homozygous means that the two alleles of a gene are similar.

A cross between to heterozygous parents for genes (Ww) is shown below:

The results show that 25% of the population will be homozygous dominant, 50% of the population will be heterozygous dominant, 25% of the population will be recessive for the trait.
