First, the microorgaisms like bacterias plays roles in all the nitrogen transformation. There are found in the nodules of legumes, to fix the nitrogen. The bacteria changes the nitrogen into ammonium, then the ammonium changes into nitrates, the subtance that the plant can absorb.

So the bacteria is important for animals, and plants in all the Nitrogen Cycle.
