Producers are organisms that are able to produce their own food because they get energy from chemicals or the sun and convert it into glucose  in a process called photosynthesis (if it uses energy from the sun) or chemosynthesis (if it uses energy from other chemical molecules). Glucose is used to form the plan's structure and as an energy storage molecule.

The most common example of a producer are plants, algae and some bacteria. It also has to be considered that a producer does not eat other organisms. A cheetah for example does eat other organisms and since it is an animal is not able to produce their own food, it needs to obtain energy from producers, so it is a consumer. Moth and mushrooms are decomposers because they cannot make their own food, unlike plants.

A rose is a flowering plant and it is able to perform photosynthesis to transform light energy into chemical energy to produce carbohydrates.
