The roles of scientists and engineers in the advancement of science and technology complement each other. in general, scientists conduct in-
depth scientific study and research, which provides the foundation for technology, while engineers use this knowledge to carry out the practical
application of science and technology to solve problems. when scientists and engineers test new ideas, they follow similar procedures match
these steps, which are only a small part of the testing process, to either scientific inquiry or engineering design.

Scientific Study shall include –  

1.Colleagues or personal motivation  and or planned or chance observations generate a question  

2.Brainstorm hypotheses and choose one

3.Conduct experiment : gather and analyze data

4.Publish Papers

Engineering Study shall include –  

a)Conduct a test of the prototype : gather and evaluate performance data

b)Colleagues and/or clients present a problem to be solved by a new construction  

c)Brainstorm design solutions and choose one

d)Build project  

Explanation:

A scientific study is basically driven by self interest in the subject or by the motivation of the peers while in case of engineering study most of the studies are done for the sake of fulfilling the client requirement.  

Scientific study require lot of data collection and analysis excercise while in case of engineering study prototype of the original model is tested.  

Scientists chooses a hypothetical scenario and will resolve it while in an engineering study design solutions are produced and one of the option is chosen.
