The geological time scale is a system of chronological dating that relates geological strata with time. Geological strata is referred to the sequence of soil or sediments or rocks which is relative to the space where the fossils of the  dead organisms are found. It describes the significant events that occurred in the history of the Earth. The geological time scale provides information about the following:

A. list of rock layers by age: By stratigraphy the age of the rock layers can be determined by the relative strata.

D. reasons why organisms evolve into different species: The distinction in the features of the fossilized remains may show adaptations in the body structures with reference to the their surrounding environment. Giving an evidence of evolution.
