Explain how deforestation can permanently increase an area’s risk of flooding.

Without the large roots of the trees ,the soil becomes loose and not as sturdy. With roots it is like a net you see in hilly areas that people put up .It keeps the dirt from becoming loose. So an areas risk of flooding increases because it is less sturdy because there is less holding it together.And if the tree roots were there it would become sturdier .Also the roots of trees soak up water so this helps with flooding to by reducing the water in the soil .(Hope I helped!)
