Bethanechol [Urecholine]

Bethanechol [Urecholine] is given orally for treating glaucoma. Direct-acting cholinergic drugs such as carbachol [Carboptic] are also used to treat increased intraocular pressure in conditions such as glaucoma and have positive effects when administered topically in the form of eye drops but are poorly absorbed when administered orally.
