What was the impressionist movement and when did it begin?

The Impressionist movement began in the 19th century between 1the 870s and 1880s. Impressionism was essentially an art consisting of the bending of light on a portrait with brush strokes almost naked to the eye. It's origin came from a group of French artists who later became famous for their works.
