A Photographer’s PerspectivePart of what makes the digital photography experience so exciting and innovative compared to non-digital cameras of years past is the LCD display that allows you to instantly review your images after taking them. For this lab, you are going to focus on exploring the camera viewfinder and LCD display a bit more deeply. You will start by doing a bit of research on viewfinders and LCD displays on digital cameras. After you feel that you have an understanding of the purpose and function of viewfinders and LCD displays on digital cameras, you will write three to five paragraphs comparing and contrasting these two features. You want to not only identify and explain what they do and how they are used but also explore when and why a photographer might use one versus the other or both simultaneously. Next, you are going to put on your creativity hat and grab some blank paper and colored pencils, pens, or markers. You are going to create a series of drawings that show what a photographer sees when looking through a camera viewfinder versus what they see when looking at the LCD screen. You will draw the photographer’s perspective looking through the viewfinder and the LCD screen for each of the following:•A portrait of a person or animal in a park on a bright, sunny day•An indoor still life composition•A brightly lit, indoor sporting eventNote: You will not be graded on your drawing abilities! The specifics of each photographic scene is entirely up to you, as is the manner in which you interpret what the photographer sees through the viewfinder and on the LCD screen—get creative! When drawing the LCD screen, be sure to include any settings or items that appear on the screen along with the image. You will submit a list of websites that you used for your research, three to five written paragraphs exploring viewfinders and LCD screens, as well as six drawings (two for each photograph setting). (You may simply take a picture of each drawing or of each set of drawings to submit.)For more information on how you will be graded, please refer to the rubric below.
