The logging industry has cut down many trees and destroyed much of the quokka's habitat. Then the biggest fire Australia has had burned 98.000 hectares of forest! The quokkas are also under threat by foxes, cats, and bush fires. The quokka is considered an endangered species and the World Wildlife Fund works to protect them. They have made it illegal to touch or feed quokkas or keep them as pets. They protect remaining habitats and work hard to protect the quokkas.
