Assembling: An additive process in which artists construct work by putting together objects and attaching them in some way. carve: Using tools to cut, or chip, solid material in order to form something (such as a sculpture).
casting: Substitution process in which the artist models an image in a soft medium such as wax, which is then replaced with something more durable such as bronze.
lost wax: Technique for casting where wax is carved then heated after a mold is made, then heated so that the wax melts, leaving an impression.
modeling: Process of forming a pliable medium with hands or tools.
sculpture in the round: Three dimensional art that is meant to be seen from all sides.
