In what ways can you practice style on your own when working on your individual part in jazz

I may not be a jazz musician but if I'm understanding you correctly go with the flow, like if your arms wanting to glide like a swan in the air wile using the trombone let it do so if it doesn't negatively impact your practicing. Their you go your practicing your style wile working or not on your own part.
