Imagine you were animating an elephant. Name at least THREE major places you would need to add edge loops to besides the legs and neck, and explain why those places need edge loops to create realistic animations. What are some of the future production stages that would follow the "blocking" exercise you conducted in this unit? Name at least two future stages and how even a blocked character would be useful for those stages. Why is it important to maintain workflow through these kinds of activities? What are the advantages and disadvantages of verbal communication versus written communication (e. g. memos) in the process of creating an animation? Discuss why the process of blocking a model begins with a box shape rather than, say, a sphere or cylinder? Why might cartoonish characters "work" or be more visually appealing if colors were painted directly on a model rather than applying a full texture later in a production process?
