Monody and Homophony were the preferred vocal textures during the Baroque period.

Monody is the distinct or soloistic role of the main melody. It is a particular type of solo song that was very popular in the 1600s. It was also accompanied with instrumental music.

Homophony or homophonic music  emphasizes the concord and alignment between voices in the texture.
