This is for english class my rhetorical essay is there key things i can add Thomas Jefferson, one of the writers of the declaration of Independence writes about all the crimes and unfair things the British have committed. Thomas and many other writers’ objective is to break off from the British and become their own independent country. The declaration of Independence is written seriously. The usual readers of the declaration of Independence are more around middle-aged people.

In grievance 1, the declaration of independence starts off stating their philosophy, one of their philosophies is, “That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.” This means that when your government starts acting crazy or out of character it’s up to the citizens to start fixing things. Another one of their philosophies is, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness—” Everybody deserves happiness and freedom and all men are created equal.

In part A of grievance 2, the crimes of the British are listed, “He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.” This is one of the many crimes the British have been accused of. In part B of grievance 2, all the economic problems are listed. One of the many economic problems is how the British cut off all their trade with all parts of the world. In part C of grievance 2, the physical damages are listed, one of the many physical problems that are said to have happened is, “He has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren, or to fall
themselves by their Hands. 

In grievance 3, the declaration of their Independence is stated. They list their final reasons for their declaration, “Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people. America simply just wants freedom and can’t be under their tyrannic ruler anymore. At the end of the grievance America states their declaration of independence, “We, therefore, the Representatives of the united States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly publish and declare, That these United Colonies are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States;” 

In this letter of declaration, the writers had the purpose of breaking off from the British. This objective in the end did not end quietly but was achieved nevertheless.
